Give a Family a Break in Partnership with the Salvation Army

Each year IHG raises funds for the Give a Family a Break appeal, in partnership with the Salvation Army. Members of the Salvation Army recommend families for the programme from the families that they see and help throughout the year. Mostly these are families that have had a very rough year; some having never had a family holiday before. In 2010 alone, more than 30 lucky families were given an all expenses paid camping styled holiday, with a food hamper and tickets to local attractions.

Holiday Inn Rotorua staff participated in this programme for the first time this year. Staff have been actively involved in the two key fundraising activities held this year, volunteering their time for a Garage Sale and for Father’s Day Lunch. This year Holiday Inn Rotorua raised enough money to send 2 families on a holiday. Planning is already well underway to improve on this year’s effort in 2012.
